Today, the City of Port Coquitlam proudly unveiled the Terry Fox Sculptures known as the Gateway of Giants, a new public art installation that celebrates the hometown hero’s enduring legacy. Located at the entrance to the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (2150 Wilson Avenue), the sculptures are designed to be approachable and inspiring for residents and visitors alike.

Created by internationally recognized artist Casto Solano, the bronze figures invite people to stop, take photos, or simply reflect on Terry’s courage and determination. By placing them in such a central community space, Port Coquitlam ensures that Terry’s story continues to live on where it all began.
Community Celebration
The unveiling ceremony brought the community together in true Port Coquitlam spirit. Residents, families, and local leaders gathered to honour Terry Fox, not just as a Canadian icon, but as a neighbor who grew up here.
The event also featured:
A screening of the Terry Fox movie
A mini “Marathon of Hope” activity for kids
Community booths from the PoCo Heritage Museum & Archives and the Terry Fox Foundation

The exhibit also includes interactive displays, a detailed timeline of Terry’s early years in Port Coquitlam, and stories of other local champions who have inspired the community.
