Port Coquitlam is about to celebrate one of its most iconic and beloved heroes in a truly special way.
On April 12, 2025, at 11 a.m., the Terry Fox: Inspiring Local Champions exhibition will officially open at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre. This permanent exhibit honors the life, legacy, and impact of Terry Fox, a hometown hero whose Marathon of Hope continues to inspire people around the world.
The exhibition not only celebrates Terry’s incredible journey but also highlights the stories of other local champions and community builders who have shaped Port Coquitlam in meaningful ways. Visitors will be able to explore interactive displays and view personal artifacts donated by the Fox family and the Terry Fox Centre. These include Terry’s spare prosthetic leg, an Adidas running shoe, a Marathon of Hope T-shirt, and his PoCo Ravens athletic jacket from high school.

One of the most exciting features is a digital timeline displayed on the lobby's feature wall. With a hands-on slider screen, visitors can scroll through key moments of Terry’s early years in Port Coquitlam, paired with never-before-seen photos and stories.
This exhibition is more than a tribute—it’s a reminder of what can be achieved through courage, resilience, and the support of a community. Whether you grew up in Port Coquitlam or are new to the area, this exhibition offers a powerful connection to the people and stories that define the city.

Make sure to stop by the Port Coquitlam Community Centre to experience the exhibit for yourself. It’s a space that will continue to inspire generations to dream big and make a difference—just like Terry did.
