Port Coquitlam is about to host a summer event that brings the community together for a powerful cause: the 5th Annual Colon Cancer Charity Cornhole Classic, organized by The Goutsisson Family Foundation (TGFF). Taking place on Saturday, July 19th at the PoCo Recreation Centre's Green Rink, this 19+ event mixes friendly competition, great local food, and heartfelt purpose.

TGFF, founded by Shane and Krista Goutsis, has spent the past five years raising awareness and funds for colorectal cancer research through the BC Cancer Foundation. What began as a grassroots effort has grown into a cornerstone event in the Tri-Cities area, with past projects including the Tour the Tri-Cities Passport and even community-built cornhole boards at Aggie Park.
This year’s Cornhole Classic promises another exciting day of gameplay, prizes, and community spirit. There are both competitive and social divisions, with a $1,000 prize pool, and registration is open now. The cost is $70 per team, and an early bird deadline is set for July 7th. Teams who register before then will be entered into a draw for a BucketGolf Bundle valued at $200.

But it’s not just about tossing bags, it’s about showing support. This event brings out the best of PoCo: good times, good food, and good people backing a worthy mission. Vendors lined up for the day include Taps & Tacos, Swahili BBQ, Patina Brewing, The Kinsmen Club, Telus, and the BC Cancer Foundation. Attendees can expect delicious eats, local brews, a silent auction, and 50/50 raffles, all while contributing to a meaningful cause.
You can also find the official Facebook Event already live, a great place to RSVP, share with friends, and stay updated on announcements.

Let’s help make this the biggest year yet, toss some bags, grab a bite, and make a difference, all right here in Port Coquitlam.
