Bevees: Port Coquitlam’s One-of-a-Kind Booze-Free Bar

In a city where drinks usually come with a buzz and a next-day headache, one Port Coquitlam shop is serving all the flavor but none of the hangover.

Bevees is British Columbia’s first non-alcoholic bottle shop and beverage room, and Canada’s first booze-free bar. Owned and operated by longtime Tri-Cities residents Racquel Foran and Jim O'Connor, Bevees is more than a store; it’s a welcoming community-driven space built on passion and purpose.

How It All Started

The idea for Bevees came after Racquel and Jim read a news article about the growing non-alcoholic beverage industry. It sparked something immediate: a shared business venture they both felt excited about. With Racquel’s background in hospitality and Jim’s lifelong preference for alcohol-free living, it felt like the perfect match.

Just seven months later, Bevees opened its doors, offering an inclusive space where anyone can explore the evolving world of alcohol-free beverages.

Why Port Coquitlam?

“We live on the Coquitlam/PoCo border and didn’t want to commute,” Racquel shared. But it was more than convenience, it was about creating something vibrant and new for the suburbs. “We wanted to bring a downtown vibe to PoCo,” and with more people moving out of Vancouver, the timing couldn’t have been better.

Bevees isn’t just a retail shop. It’s a community hub, an event venue, and even a mini art gallery. From sober karaoke and trivia nights to mixology classes and live music, Port Coquitlam Booze-Free Bar regularly hosts events that bring people together, without alcohol as the center of attention.

Their space is also open for local group meetings, networking, and private gatherings. “We’re the store people didn’t know they were looking for,” says Racquel, and after one visit, you’ll see why.

What to Try

Bevees offers over 600 non-alcoholic products, from craft sodas to spirits, aperitifs, and wines. Some standouts include:

• Mad Moose – a Canadian non-alcoholic whiskey.

• MUSE Merlot and Rosé – BC-made wines with only 1g of sugar per serving.

• 80+ non-alcoholic beers

• And Racquel’s personal favorite: educating customers on how to enjoy NA wines.
